Custom Designed Gift Packets

For one-of-a-kind programs, we can custom imprint your original artwork, logo, text or message on the cover of our gift packets. Copy may also be printed on the inside panel. Print in one color, multiple colors, or process color. Or, you may provide full-color artwork, and we will apply colored photographic prints on the front panel of a white gift packet. Like the stock gift packets, the writing instrument you choose is inserted in the dark-grey, flocked foam panel. The packets hold your choice of an individual pen or a combination set of two writing instruments.

All packets are inserted and shipped in a clear presentation sleeve which will get your gift packet noticed. The custom designed box has a tuck-in tab closure that will securely deliver your selected writing instruments and/or accessories. It also allows business cards or inserts to be safely included inside your packet. Our clear case offers optimum presentation value as well as protection during shipping for your Garland products.

All pens, pencils, and rollerballs from our Photo Logo Collections can be combined in our gift packets. Jazz and Maxx grip pens may also be inserted in these packets. Standard cutouts are available for:

Combination Gift Packets: Combination gift packets are also available for packaging a writing instrument with selected items from the Garland Gift Gallery. The Satin Nickel Pull-Apart Key Tag, Satin Nickel Square Key Tag, Polished Chrome Teardrop Key Tag, Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tool, and Lapel Pins can all be inserted in our gift packets next to your writing instrument. Please add $.10 (x) per piece for die cutting to add the additional item to the stock gift packet cuts.

Custom Imprinted Gift Packet Pricing

Pricing for Outside Imprint, Inside Imprint, or Both:The #2500 series gift packet provides a plain white cover for imprinting from your submitted art. The minimum for these custom printed packets is 100 units. All packets are $1.00 (G) each, plus the imprint charge listed below, which is based on the quantity ordered and the number of imprint colors on the cover and/or inside panel.

For example, if you order 500 pens in our stock Thank You Gift Packet, and would like to have the inside left panel imprinted in one of our stock blue inks and black, the cost for the custom imprinted packet would be $1.00 (G) per packet plus $.70 (x) per packet ($.40 for blue plus $.30 for black) for the two-color inside imprint copy.

These charges are for simple imprint copy in any of our six standard imprint ink colors. Simple imprint means that different colors do not overlap, touch or abut each other (no close registration or process color), and colors do not have to print to the edge of thepacket (no bleeds). Therefore, color separated artwork is not required. We provide the prep work for simple imprint copy, and all set-up charges are included in the per piece imprint charge, as long as camera-ready, black and white artwork is submitted, sized to fit in the 3” x 5” copy area.

Artwork for Imprinted Gift Packets

Imprinting on Outside/Inside Cover: To imprint your message on the outside or inside cover, two options are available. You can submit camera-ready artwork or have Garland typeset your copy and layout your artwork. The plain white #2500 Series gift packet can be positioned to open either vertically or horizontally. Please indicate whether your packet copy is to be printed with a vertical or horizontal orientation.

Imprinting with Custom Logo: If your imprinted message contains a custom logo or you desire a specific typestyle, it is best that you send us camera-ready, black and white artwork to size. The front and inside panel have an overall dimension of 4 3/8” x 5 15/16”. The maximum imprint area for each panel is 3” x 5”. Submitting camera-ready art is also the quickest and most economical way to imprint your logo, copy, or message since no additional prep or set-up charges will be incurred to run the imprint copy in a stock ink color. Unless you are selecting a standard imprint ink color, all PMS colors must be clearly indicated on the artwork. A colored copy of the imprint artwork should also be provided for reference if your imprint copy requires more than one ink color. The packet stock is a semi-gloss white stock for the front panel with an uncoated white finish inside. Therefore, the same ink color will look slightly different when printed on the outside panel compared to the inside panel, due to the coated outside/uncoated inside characteristics of the card stock.

When you send us artwork for imprinting, please provide high-contrast black and white camera-ready art. Faxed artwork is not acceptable. If art is to be submitted electronically or digitally, we can accept both PC and Macintosh file formats. Artwork should be sent as EPS, TIFF or AI files to expedite your order and avoid possible artwork or make-ready charges. Other file formats may be acceptable; please call our customer service specialists with your file requirements prior to submission. Artwork may be e-mailed to: artwork@garlandpen.com. If artwork is not submitted to size, we assume you want us to format and layout your artwork and copy. Also, if handwritten copy is submitted, we will assume you want us to typeset and format the artwork unless clearly noted otherwise. If the inside text or a personal signature is to be printed as handwritten copy, please make sure that it is submitted in crisp, black ink for maximum clarity. The cost for Garland to layout and typeset your imprinted message is $20.00 (x). A paper proof will be provided for all gift packet copy that we are typesetting or formatting for you.

Gift Packet Imprint Colors Standard ink colors for custom packets are: Black, Process Blue, Reflex Blue, Warm Red, PMS 186 Red, Pantone Green. To imprint with other PMS colors, please add $50.00 (x) per color. The exterior of the packet is a semi-gloss stock and the inside panel is uncoated. Please remember to refer to the coated PMS color selections for the outside and the uncoated PMS colors for inside imprint copy. For packets requiring more than 2 colors imprinted on either the front cover or the inside panel, please call for a quote. Hot stamping is not available.

Production Time for Gift Packet Imprinting: When camera-ready black and white artwork is submitted, your imprinted packets will be produced within 10 or fewer working days. When artwork needs to be typeset or reformatted by Garland, your imprinted packets will be produced within 12 or fewer working days. Please contact us if you need quicker delivery; in most cases we can accommodate requests for expedited production of your imprinted packets.

Imprinted Gift Packet Samples

Samples for Approval: Actual samples for approval, or press proofs, are available at $75.00 (x) per color, per side. Black and white paper proofs are offered for simple imprint configurations at $20.00 (x) each. Press proofs are rarely necessary since the size and layout will not be any different from a paper proof. In addition, if camera-ready artwork is submitted to size, the packet imprint will look exactly the same as your artwork, eliminating the need for either a paper proof or a press proof. Complex Imprinting using Process Color, Close Registration, Bleeds. Gift packets requiring process color, full reverses, bleeds, heavy ink coverage or close registration will require special quotes and a higher minimum order.

Submiting Artwork for Sample: Please submit artwork or a detailed rendering of the layout and allow 2 or 3 working days for a custom price quote and delivery schedule. The minimum quantity for processing orders with close registration, heavy ink coverage, full reverses, bleeds or process color is 500 packets. Color separated artwork will be required prior to production. Allow several additional production days (beyond the standard 7-10 working days), depending on the complexity of the artwork submitted.

Custom Photo Gift Packets: Don’t need 500 or more packets, but really want the impact of full-color? Garland’s Custom Photo Packets can meet the challenge with minimum runs of 100 units. A photo gift packet is a great alternative to our stock and imprinted packets. We will mount full color renditions of product literature, ads, buildings, badges or insignia on the front of a white panel gift packet. Submit a full-color sample of the item you wish to reproduce; individual prints will be produced and positioned on the front of a plain white gift packet. The full-color photo can be positioned either vertically or horizontally on the front of the white presentation packet.

Artwork for Photo Gift Packets

Artwork for Full-Color Photo on Packet: Due to the photography process, we need full-color artwork for the full-color photo gift packet. Examples of good artwork are brochures, decals, patches, postcards and color photographs. Artwork must be clean, without folds, eraser or staple marks. Please note that we cannot work from color slides or transparencies, shiny metal objects, reflective foil, metallic gold or silver. Metallic and fluorescent colors do not reproduce accurately in photography and should be avoided. For best reproduction, artwork should be at least 2” x 2” and no larger than 8”.

Submission of Digital/Electronic Artwork: When you send us electronic or digital art for a photo packet, please submit using the best resolution possible. We accept both PC and Macintosh file formats. Artwork should be sent as EPS, TIFF or AI files to expedite your order and avoid possible artwork or make-ready charges. Digital and electronic art should be submitted sized to fit in a 3” x 5” layout. Please note if you want the art to be positioned vertically or horizontally on the front of the white gift packet. If your artwork is not an actual photograph, and is to be printed with specific PMS colors, please include them for reference. The artwork may be e-mailed to: artwork@garlandpen.com. Pleaseinclude your company name and address, your purchase order number, contact name and phone number to avoid delays in your order. Photo Packet Sample & Set-Up Charges

A one-time set-up charge is required for full-color photo packets and is $25.00 (x). We recommend that you order a pre-production proof. The set-up charge will be billed on the sample, and will not be billed again when the order is run. Please allow 4-5 working days for production of your sample photo packet. Your order will be produced within 7-10 working days from approval of proof.

If you also have inside imprint copy on the photo packet, actual samples for approval, or press proofs, are available. Add $75.00 (x) per color to the photo packet set-up charge.

Black and white paper proofs are offered at $20.00 (x) each for simple imprint copy. Press proofs are rarely necessary for inside imprint copy since the size and layout will not be any different from a paper proof. Production Time for Photo Packets

Your photo packet order will be produced within 7 to 10 working days from approval of your proof. If inside imprint copy is also required, please add 2 additional days for production.
