Standard Font Engraving on Writing Instruments

Two lines of repetitive copy in a standard engraving font are offered at no charge on writing instruments from the Colour, Revere, Tuscany, and Monogram Collections and on our Jazz and Maxx pens. To qualify as repeat copy, the same two lines of text must be engraved on all units within the order. If one line of text is repetitive, and the other line will vary within the order, a charge of $1.00 (G) per line, per piece will be incurred to process the second line of copy. The second line of copy on these series’ will be centered directly beneath the first line of engraving.
   On our Signature Collection, additional lines of engraving will be centered in the panel between the etched lines, not directly beneath the first line of copy. These items therefore have to be engraved twice since both lines of copy cannot be laser engraved at the same time. Due to the extra processing, second lines of standard engraving (repetitive copy or individual names) on the Signature Collection will incur an additional charge of $1.00 (G) per line, per piece.

Two Lines—100% Repetitive copy:	Free on the Colour, Revere, Tuscany, Monogram Collections, Jazz and Maxx. $1.00 (G) per line, per piece for the second line—Signature Series only.
Two Lines—Any copy variations:	$1.00 (G) per line, per piece for second line on all Collections. Second Line on opposite side of barrel: $1.50 (G) per line, per piece. Opposite side engraving not available on Jazz and Maxx series.
Third and Fourth Lines:	Due to engraving area constraints, 3rd and 4th lines not available on Jazz and Maxx pens.

Engraving Copy Area

The Colour, Revere, Monogram, and Tuscany Collections and the Jazz and Maxx pens provide the maximum area for engraving of standard font text and copy. Copy will be sized to fit within the 1 1/3” (35.05mm) wide by 7/32” (5.60mm) high area. A maximum of two lines of standard font engraving can be positioned in this copy area.
The Signature Collection can only be engraved in the panels between the etched lines
which limits the height of the engraving window to .13 inches (3.30mm). Therefore, only one line of standard font engraving can be positioned in each panel.

Samples for Approval

Samples for approval are recommended for orders from our Photo Logo Collections requiring 3 or 4 lines of engraving. If all lines are very long, the engraving may appear crooked due to the taper of the barrel. This is especially true when some of the "square" styles (single line, double line block, broadway) are requested in all CAPS. Due to the pronounced barrel taper on rollerballs, 3 or 4 lines are not recommended.
On light-colored barrels in our Colour Collection, such as pearl and golden, the engraving is subtle. We encourage you to use our dark tint engraving at $.20 (G) per piece. Also, the caps of our Maxx series and the satin chrome Jazz pens are much enhanced with optional oxidation at $.20 (G) per piece.
   The barrel shown here is an example of standard engraving using our dark tint engraving for a pearl-colored barrel in our Colour Collection.

Quantities Under Catalog Minimums

Occasionally you might need just a few extra writing instruments to solve a big problem. Less than minimum orders are accepted for all models in our USA-made Photo Logo Writing Instrument Collections. A charge of $25.00 (x) will be added for each item ordered (pens or pencils or rollerballs) that does not meet the stated catalog minimums per model number, per color and per photo logo. Charges for standard font engraving on less than minimum orders are: $1.00 (G) per line for the first two lines of text and $1.50 (G) per line for third and fourth lines. Laser logo engraving is not offered on less than minimum orders. Less than minimum not available on Jazz and Maxx pens.

Optional Engraving Upgrade on the Founder’s Collection

Engraving on the metal cap of the 390 and 395 series in our Founder’s Collection is available at an additional charge. This upgrade is sure to enhance your purchase and provide you with a unique gift for clients, donors, employees or members. The Founder’s can now offer just about everything—a full-color photo logo, a large copy area on the barrel for your message or information, and even personalized engraving on the cap! Select from any of our ten standard engraving fonts. Maximum of 2 lines. Limited to 28 characters and spaces per line. Engraving charges will be $1.00 (G) per piece for either one line of personalization or two lines of repetetive copy.

Laser Logo Engraving on Writing Instruments

For brand promotions or corporate awareness programs, the perfect solution is engraving your actual logo, image or a customized typestyle on the selected writing instrument. This can be accomplished with our laser logo engraving option. Laser logo engraving is ideal for a message that sizes well in an area 1 1/3” (35.05mm) long by 7/32” (5.60mm) high.

Options and Pricing for Laser Logo Engraving

Our high-speed lasers eliminate your per-piece running charges. A one-time programming fee of $30.00 (G) will be charged the first time that you run a laser logo. Non-standard typestyles or fonts are considered a laser logo and are subject to the $30.00 (G) set-up charge the first time that each different copy or text is run. Dark tint engraving is recommended on the light-colored barrels in our Colour Collection at an additional charge of $.20 (G) per piece. Oxidation is available to enhance your laser logo engraving on the caps of our Maxx series and the satin chrome Jazz pens at an additional charge of $.20 (G) per piece.
   The writing instruments in our USA-made Photo Logo Collections permit additional lines of copy in addition to the laser logo. Should you wish to add an extra line of copy, personalized or repetitive, in one of our ten standard engraving fonts, please add $1.50 (G) per line, per piece. We suggest that additional lines of standard engraving be placed on the opposite side of the barrel from the laser logo to avoid problems with alignment, sizing and centering. As always, samples are highly recommended to ensure that you receive exactly what you expect, especially when combining your artwork with our standard engraving.
   Less than minimum orders are not available with laser logo engraving.

which limits the height of the laser logo to .13 inches (3.30mm). Therefore, not all laser logo art can be successfully engraved on the items in this Collection due to the height restriction. Specialized typestyles or copy that is linear will be most visible. Please contact our customer service specialists with a fax of the layout of your copy prior to requesting a laser logo on orders for items in our Signature Collection.

Artwork Requirements for Laser Logo Engraving

All artwork for engraved laser logos on our metal items must be submitted in high-contrast black and white format. Faxed artwork is not acceptable. Also, artwork should not be sent "to size" since it will need to be blown-up prior to processing and will likely require significant touch-up and make-ready charges. Larger art provides better resolution for detailed barrel engraving. We take your larger-sized art and reduce it to fit the available copy engraving area. Whether submitting black and white camera-ready artwork by mail, digitally or by e-mail, the size for optimum reproduction is 2” x 4”.
   We can accept both PC and Macintosh file formats. Artwork should be sent as EPS, TIFF or AI files to expedite your order and avoid possible artwork or make-ready charges.
