Product Colors

The Teardrop Key Tag is Polished Chrome with a black metal insert that can be laser engraved or covered with a full-color domed logo.

Color Variation: A quick note about product colors: The item colors displayed on our web site and in our product sample builder are shown to indicate the variety of selections that we offer. As a result of the browser and resolution limitations of the web, the actual color of the product will vary from the colors depicted on your screen.

Pricing Details

Set-up Charges: A set-up charge of $25.00 (G) will be billed on new and repeat orders.
Full-Color Logo Doming and Engraving options are separate set-ups.

Quantity Discounts: Due to the differing set-up processes, full-color doming and engraving options may not be combined for quantity discounts. Combined quantity pricing with other Garland items and model numbers is not available.

Orders under Catalog Minimum Quantities: Less than minimum not offered on this series.

Sample Costs

Speculative Samples and Samples for Approval: Production time for custom samples is generally 3-4 working days. A custom sample of a domed Teardrop Key Tag will be made for $20.00 (x) plus the first quantity price of the item ordered. This sample charge includes a full-color logo encased in clear epoxy resin. Full-color artwork must be provided or art charges will apply. Samples of the Teardrop Key Tag requesting laser engraving are also available at a charge of $12.00 (x) plus the first quantity price of the item. This sample charge includes one line of engraving in one of our 9 standard fonts, but please note that there is a maximum of 12 letters and spaces which limits the amount of text that can be included on the teardrop. A second line of standard font engraving can be included at an additional charge of $1.00 (G) per piece. Laser logos are able to take maximum advantage of the round copy area and are therefore more suitable for engraved copy. A one-time programming charge of $30.00 (G) for laser logo engraving will be billed at the time the sample is processed and will not be billed when the full order is run. A maximum of 3 sample units may be ordered at sample pricing. Full-color logo doming and engraving options may not be combined as one sample order.

Random Samples: All Garland products may be purchased as random samples to provide you with a low cost option to evaluate the quality, styles, features, colors and customization techniques that are available for different items in our line. All random samples of our Teardrop Key Tag will ship with a full-color photo logo or engraving to demonstrate our customization capabilities. You may select either logo doming or engraving for random samples. Whenever possible, we will accommodate requests for random samples showing a laser logo copy or a specific engraving font. Use end column pricing. Please note: random items are not returnable for credit.

Pre-Production Sample Program: To ensure that clients are completely satisfied with the customized product that they are purchasing, we require that a pre-production product proof be processed on new orders for 250 units or more. Our free sample for approval program, combined with shipment of the custom proof within 3 working days, make this a perfect and inexpensive solution for always satisfying the needs of the ultimate consumer. Sample proofs should be approved in writing, and can be waived by signing the waiver forms supplied by Garland. Why take the chance of being disappointed when you can be assured of success with a custom product proof!!

New Orders - Free Sample for Approval: When you place a new order for 250 units or more of any item in our line, we will provide a free custom sample for approval. The cost for the sample will be charged to you initially. A credit will then be issued if the sample is approved for production within 60 days from the date the sample is shipped. The rebate credit for our Teardrop Key Tag will include charges billed for: the price of one unit and the $20.00 (x) for domed or $12.00 (x) for engraved sample setup charge. Art charges, laser logo programming and shipping charges are not included in this rebate. Please note: due to varying setup processes, we cannot provide this rebate credit unless you are running 250 units of a single item number or model in our line.

Product Dimensions

Overall Dimensions: The Teardrop Key Tag is approximately 1 1/16” (26.99mm) wide and 2 11/16” (68.26mm) high when hanging from the key ring.

Full-Color Logo or Laser Engraving Area: The logo area on the Teardrop Key Tag is a 3/4” (19mm) round circle. This diameter is large enough to accommodate many different artwork configurations for either laser logo engraving or full-color logo doming.

Full-Color Logo Details

Full-Color Art: Due to our photography process, we need full-color artwork for the logo dome. Black and white or color-separated art cannot be used and will require art charges to make it ready for photography. Examples of good artwork are full color letterhead, business cards, brochures, decals, postcards and color photographs. Artwork must be clean, without eraser or staple marks. Please note that we cannot work from color slides or transparencies, reflective foil, metallic gold or silver. Metallic and fluorescent colors do not reproduce accurately in photography and should be avoided. For best reproduction, artwork should be at least 1” x 1” and no larger than 8”. Size requirements are different for digital art as explained below.

Be sure to indicate if only a portion of the art should be reproduced. The logo dome area of the Teardrop Key Tag is round, so please look at your art and envision a circle around the logo or some part of your artwork.

Submission of Digital/Electronic Artwork: We accept both PC and Macintosh file formats for digital or electronic artwork. Artwork should be sent as EPS, TIFF or AI files to expedite your order and avoid possible artwork or make-ready charges. Since our software programs may read your PMS colors differently, you must provide us with the PMS colors that you are expecting to see in your photo logo reproduction. Digital and electronic photo dome art should be submitted at least 2” x 2” for maximum quality when reduced to size. The artwork may be e-mailed to: artwork@garlandpen.com. Please include your company name and address, your purchase order number, contact name and phone number to avoid delays in your order. All other inquiries and questions should be addressed to: customerservice@garlandpen.com.

In addition to EPS, TIFF and AI files, other file formats may be acceptable. Call our customer service specialists with your file requirements prior to sending artwork.

Color Variation in Photo Logos: As mentioned earlier, your logo for the dome is reproduced photographically. Please expect some slight variations in your logo color since the photographic system does not see all PMS colors as they appear. Some colors are easily replicated, whereas others are not. If your logo color(s) must match exactly, we encourage you to order a low-cost pre-production sample for approval. What looks great to one client might be unacceptable to another. Samples avoid any chance of disappointment in the reproduction of your logo on your key tag.

Art Services: If full-color art is not available, our art department can work with you to colorize your black and white art. Please submit black and white art with your color changes clearly noted. PMS colors may be requested, but please specify if you're using the PMS reference chart for coated or uncoated stock. If not specified, we will match color from the coated section of the PMS color guide. We will match your art as close as the photographic process permits. In addition to colorizing black and white artwork, we can also retouch colored artwork if necessary. Retouching, reverses and simple color changes will be done for a fee of $25.00 (G) per logo. Complex or multiple color changes will be done at a fee of $50.00 (G) per logo. We will notify you about any additional art charges before processing your order.

No Artwork Available? Logo Selections and Suggestions: Generic/Stock logos are offered when a custom image is not available for the logo dome. These logos are appropriate for fundraisers, company outings, retail gifts, anniversaries, weddings, safety programs and commemorative occasions. For instance, the dollar sign works well for many companies in the financial services field. Our Eagle/Flag logo remains a very popular selection for many companies and organizations. Our customer service specialists are available to discuss your options and recommend appropriate logos for your programs or promotion. * These logos are also available in a variety of colors at no additional charge. Standard colors offered include: dark blue, dark green, burgundy, grey, black, red, silver, gold and others. Let us know your color of choice, and we will match as close as possible using our standard colors. Specific PMS colors would incur a $25.00 (G) art charge. Note: Each color of a logo is a separate run and must meet the series’ minimum quantity per logo color. Combined quantity pricing is not available for logos run in different colors.

Engraving Details

Standard Font Engraving: First, let’s start with simple and economical standard font engraving which is available for our Teardrop Key Tags offered in our Gift Gallery. Your first line is included when you choose one of our nine standard engraving fonts, and this single line of engraving can be either a repetitive message or individual names. There is no extra cost for personalization. So, yes, that means we can process an order and engrave a different name or copy on each item. And it's free! Due to the 3/4" round copy area, a maximum of 12 characters and spaces can be engraved per line, so this option is best for key tags with initials, dates, awards or very short names.

Two lines of copy: If your entire order requires two identical lines of repetitive copy, the second line can also be included at no additional charge. To qualify as repeat copy, the same two lines of text must be engraved on all units within the order. Again, please remember that there is a maximum of 12 characters and spaces per line on the front of the Teardrop Key Tag. If one line of text is repetitive, and the other line will vary within the order, a charge of $1.00 (G) per line, per piece will be incurred to process the second line of copy. The second line of copy will be centered directly beneath the first line of engraving. Only two lines of copy can be engraved with one pass of the laser.

Third and fourth lines of copy: Not available on Teardrop Key Tags.

To avoid spelling errors and confusion with upper/lower case letters, we request that you submit a typewritten list of names or copy to be engraved. Keep in mind that lists typed in CAPS will be engraved in caps unless otherwise instructed.

Our Nine Standard Engraving Fonts: Fonts and typestyles other than the nine presented below are considered custom, but may be run as a laser logo if artwork is submitted. Refer to Laser Logo Engraving for pricing and information.

Laser Logo Engraving on Teardrop Key Tags: For brand promotions or corporate awareness programs, the perfect solution is engraving your actual logo, image or a customized typestyle on the black metal disk centered on the key tag. Laser logo engraving may be substituted for our free line of personalization or one/two lines of repetitive copy in one of our nine standard engraving fonts. (Typestyles or fonts other than our nine standard offerings are considered a laser logo.) There are no running charges for this substitution, just a one-time programming charge of $30.00 (G) the first time that each copy or logo is run. Laser logo engraving must be able to be sized to fit in the 3/4" (19mm) round engraving area.

Artwork Requirements for Laser Logo Engraving: All artwork for engraved laser logos on our metal items must be submitted in high-contrast black and white format. Faxed artwork is not acceptable. Also, artwork should not be sent "to size" since it will need to be blown-up prior to processing and will likely require significant touch-up and make-ready charges. Larger art provides better resolution for detailed engraving copy. We take your larger-sized art and reduce it to fit the available copy engraving area. Whether submitting black and white camera-ready artwork by mail, digitally or by e-mail, the size for optimum reproduction is 2” x 4”.

Second Location Customization

We can customize both sides of the Teardrop Key Tags. Most often, clients will have either a full-color logo dome or a laser logo on the front and engrave some type of personalization, such as names, initials, dates or awards, on the other side. If copy is required in the second location, additional set-up and run charges will be incurred. The key tags will either have to be run through the laser twice, or through both the doming and engraving departments.

Charges for Second Location: The run charge for engraving in a second location on the Teardrop Key Tags is $1.50 (G) per piece. Standard font engraving can include one line of personalized text or two lines of repeat copy with a maximum of 15 characters and spaces per line. There is no set-up or minimum quantity for standard font engraving. If a laser logo is engraved on the back, a $30.00 one-time programming fee will be billed in addition to the per-piece run charge. All product minimums must be met as detailed in the Full-Color Doming and Laser Engraving sections.

Some Examples: If your order for 250 Teardrops has a laser logo on the front and then has 150 units with two lines of repetitive copy in a standard font engraved on the back: the laser logo would have a one-time $30.00 (G) programming fee if it is the first time that the copy has been run, and the 150 pieces with two lines of repeat copy in a standard font would be billed at $1.50 (G) additional per piece. There is no set-up charge or minimum quantity for standard font engraving.

If your order for 100 Teardrops has a full-color logo dome on the front and then has 15 units with one line of personalized copy (initials, dates, etc.) in a standard font engraved on the back: the full-color logo would have a $25.00 (G) set-up charge, and the 15 units with one line of customization in the second location would be billed at $1.50 (G) additional per piece. There is no set-up charge or minimum quantity for standard font engraving.

If your order for 1,000 Teardrops has a full-color logo dome on the front and then has two different laser logo copies engraved on the back (500 of each): the full-color logo would have a $25.00 (G) set-up charge, the laser logos would each have a one-time $30.00 (G) programming fee if it is the first time that the copy has been run, and the 1,000 pieces would each be billed the $1.50 (G) running charge to customize in the second location. The 100-unit minimum for laser logo engraving must be met for each laser logo copy.
