Product Colors

Our Stainless Key Chain/Tool provides an interesting triangular platform for either laser engraving or imprint on the brushed stainless steel surface.

Color Variation: A quick note about product colors: The item colors displayed on our web site and in our product sample builder are shown to indicate the variety of selections that we offer. As a result of the browser and resolution limitations of the web, the actual color of the product will vary from the colors depicted on your screen.

Pricing Details

Set-up Charges: A set-up charge of $25.00 (G) will be billed on new and repeat orders.
Engraving and imprinting options are separate set-ups.

Quantity Discounts: Due to the differing set-up processes, imprint and engraving options may not be combined for quantity discounts. Combined quantity pricing with other Garland items and model numbers is not available.

Sample Costs

Speculative Samples and Samples for Approval: Production time for custom samples is generally 3-4 working days. A custom sample of an engraved Stainless Key Chain/Tool will be made for $12.00 (x) plus the first quantity price of the item ordered. This sample charge includes one line of engraving in one of our 9 standard fonts, with a maximum of 20 letters and spaces. If required, a one-time programming charge of $30.00 (G) for laser logo engraving will be billed at the time the sample is processed and will not be billed when the full order is run. Samples of our Key Chain/Tool requesting a one-color imprint copy in one of our 12 standard ink colors will be charged a $20.00 (x) sample charge. A maximum of 3 sample units may be ordered at sample pricing. Engraving and imprint options may not be combined as one sample order.

Random Samples: All Garland products may be purchased as random samples to provide you with a low cost option to evaluate the quality, styles, features, colors and customization techniques that are available for different items in our line. All random samples of our Stainless Key Chain/Tools will ship with either imprint copy or engraving to demonstrate our customization capabilities. You may select either engraving or imprint for random samples. Whenever possible, we will accommodate requests for random samples showing a laser logo copy, a specific engraving font, or a standard imprint ink color. Use end column pricing. Please note: random items are not returnable for credit.

Pre-Production Sample Program: To ensure that clients are completely satisfied with the customized product that they are purchasing, we require that a pre-production product proof be processed on new orders for 250 units or more. Our free sample for approval program, combined with shipment of the custom proof within 3 working days, make this a perfect and inexpensive solution for always satisfying the needs of the ultimate consumer. Sample proofs must be approved in writing, and can be waived by signing the waiver forms supplied by Garland. Why take the chance of being disappointed when you can be assured of success with a custom product proof!!

New Orders - Free Sample for Approval: When you place a new order for 250 units or more of any item in our line, we will provide a free custom sample for approval. The cost for the sample will be charged to you initially. A credit will then be issued if the sample is approved for production within 60 days from the date the sample is shipped. The rebate credit for our Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tool will include charges billed for: the price of one unit and the $12.00 (x) for engraved or $20.00 (x) for imprinted sample setup charge. Art charges, programming fees for laser logos, set-up for two-color imprint or PMS color-matched inks, and shipping charges are not included in this rebate. Please note: due to varying setup processes, we cannot provide this rebate credit unless you are running 250 units of a single item number or model in our line. Imprint and engraving options may not be combined to reach the 250-quantity break.

Product Dimensions

Overall Dimensions: The Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tool has an approximate overall length of 3 7/8” (98.425mm) when extended from the key ring, and is 1 7/8” (47.625mm) wide at the base. Please remember that the copy area on this item is triangular. Therefore, engraving or imprint copy will be positioned to best fit the text or copy provided in the 1” (25.4mm) triangle.

Engraving Area: Laser engraving using our 9 standard fonts will be positioned in a 1” (25.4mm) long x 7/32” (5.60mm) high area. Two lines of standard font engraving can be engraved in this laser window with a maximum of 20 characters and spaces per line. Standard font engraving will be centered in the triangle unless clearly noted otherwise. Laser logo engraving will be positioned within the 1” (25.4mm) triangle based on the configuration of the copy or artwork provided. The actual length and height that can be engraved will be determined by the artwork and may have to be reduced or repositioned to fit all copy within the triangular shape. Imprint Area: Imprint copy on the Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tool will be positioned within the 1” (25.4mm) triangle based on the configuration of the copy or artwork provided. Engraving Details

Standard Font Engraving on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: First, let’s start with simple and economical standard font engraving which is available for our Stainless Key Chain/Tools offered in our Gift Gallery. Your first line is included when you choose one of our nine standard engraving fonts, and this single line of engraving can be either a repetitive message or individual names. There is no extra cost for personalization. So, yes, that means we can process an order and engrave a different name on each item. And it's free! A maximum of 20 characters and spaces can be engraved per line.

Two lines of copy: If your entire order requires two identical lines of repetitive copy, the second line can also be included at no additional charge. To qualify as repeat copy, the same two lines of text must be engraved on all units within the order. If one line of text is repetitive, and the other line will vary within the order, a charge of $1.00 (G) per line, per piece will be incurred to process the second line of copy. The second line of copy will be centered directly beneath the first line of engraving. Only two lines of copy can be engraved with one pass of the laser.

Third and fourth lines of copy: Not available on Stainless Key Chain/Tool.

To avoid spelling errors and confusion with upper/lower case letters, we request that you submit a typewritten list of names or copy to be engraved. Keep in mind that lists typed in CAPS will be engraved in caps unless otherwise instructed.

Our Nine Standard Engraving Fonts: Fonts and typestyles other than the nine presented below are considered custom, but may be run as a laser logo if artwork is submitted. Refer to Laser Logo Engraving for pricing and information.

Laser Logo Engraving on Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tools: For brand promotions or corporate awareness programs, the perfect solution is engraving your actual logo, image or a customized typestyle on the selected item. Laser logo engraving may be substituted for our free line of personalization or one/two lines of repetitive copy in one of our nine standard engraving fonts. (Typestyles or fonts other than our nine standard offerings are considered a laser logo.) There are no running charges for this substitution, just a one-time programming charge of $30.00 (G) the first time that each copy or logo is run.

Engraving copy will be positioned for best fit in the 1” (25.4mm) triangle. Keep in mind that your artwork might have to be reduced significantly to make sure that it can fit inside of a triangle. Please indicate the top point of your artwork or copy area.

Artwork Requirements for Laser Logo Engraving: All artwork for engraved laser logos on our metal items must be submitted in high-contrast black and white format. Faxed artwork is not acceptable. Also, artwork should not be sent "to size" since it will need to be blown-up prior to processing and will likely require significant touch-up and make-ready charges. Larger art provides better resolution for detailed engraving copy. We take your larger-sized art and reduce it to fit the available copy engraving area. Whether submitting black and white camera-ready artwork by mail, digitally or by e-mail, the size for optimum reproduction is 2” x 4”.

We can accept both PC and Macintosh file formats. Artwork should be sent as EPS, TIFF or AI files to expedite your order and avoid possible artwork or make-ready charges. Other file formats may be acceptable; please call our customer service specialists with your file requirements prior to submission. Artwork may be e-mailed to: artwork@garlandpen.com. Imprinting Details — Stainless Key Chain/Tool Only

Information here pertains to imprinting requirements and suggestions for our Stainless Key Chain/Tool only. Please remember that the copy area on this item is triangular. Your layout and artwork must consider this configuration and art may need to be reduced to fit in the triangle.

One-Color Imprint on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: There is a minimum run of 100 units per imprint copy and imprint color. You have two options for one-color imprint on the barrel. Either send us high contrast camera-ready black and white artwork or have Garland typeset your message. A set-up charge of $25.00 (G) will be billed for new and repeat orders. There are no per piece running charges for a one-color imprint in one of our 12 standard ink colors. Ink color can be changed for $20.00 (G) with a minimum of 100 units per ink color. For example, if you would like to have 100 stainless key chains imprinted in bright green, and 100 imprinted with the same copy or text in red, one additional charge of $20.00 (x) will be incurred. Any change of copy must be submitted and priced as a separate order.

Two-Color Imprint on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: A minimum of 100 pieces per imprint copy and imprint color is required for ordering a two-color imprint copy on stainless key chain/tools from our Gift Gallery. Color-separated black and white artwork must be provided for a two-color imprint with custom logos, images or non-standard typestyles. An additional set-up charge of $35.00 (G) will be billed each time an order is run using that two-color imprint copy. The running charge for a two-color imprint copy is $.10 (G) per piece.

Change of copy or ink color change is not available for two-color imprint orders. Any change of copy or ink color would need to be submitted and priced as a separate order.

Standard Imprint Ink Colors for Gift Gallery Items: Ink colors available: Silver, Gold, White, Black, Bright Blue PMS 286, Bright Green PMS 3295, Red PMS 201, Purple PMS 2607, Navy Blue PMS 2786, Wine PMS 209, Dark Grey PMS 432, and Yellow PMS 108.

The PMS numbers listed above are closest approximate PMS colors when printed on white. Since the key chain/tools are stainless, there will only be a slight variation to the above listed PMS colors when compared to printing these PMS colors on white or on paper. "Close as possible" requests will be imprinted with one of the above standard ink colors. All other colors are considered a color match. Samples for approval are strongly recommended for your initial order especially when very close color matches are required. Actual imprint color may vary slightly from color chart, from exact color match request, or on repeat orders.

Imprint Set-Up and Color Selection on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: There are several tips we'd like to share with you for imprint set-up.

Your choice of ink color on the Stainless Key Chain/Tool will affect the appearance of your message. Choose your imprint color carefully so there is adequate contrast and a pleasing color combination. Of course, black and our other dark inks will stand out most distinctly on the cover. White, yellow and other very light imprint inks will not provide as much contrast to the stainless finish of the key chain, especially if the logo or text for the copy is very detailed and will therefore be small. Much of the success of the customization process has to do with the size and style of a font, logo or typestyle, the detail and quality of the artwork submitted, the color combinations and contrast, and most importantly—personal preference.

So, how to proceed? Random samples can provide a starting point to check out standard ink colors on our stainless key chain/tools. If your artwork/copy or your color combinations are not workable, our product specialists will contact you with suggestions. Custom samples are always very much recommended when you are not sure exactly what you want or how your artwork and copy will reproduce. Samples resolve issues before they become problems and permit the buyer to evaluate exactly what they will be receiving.

Color Match for Imprinted Inks on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: The first time formulation of a custom colored ink requires a minimum order run of 250 units. Please provide PMS colors and we will match as close as possible. The minimum quantity for repeat orders using the same formulation is 100 units. A mixing charge of $30.00 (G) is billed for both new and repeat orders. Samples are required the first time that a new custom color is run. The color match charge will be billed on your sample and waived for your order, provided that the sample for approval is approved within 60 days from date of shipment.

Imprint Size and Imprint Typestyles on Stainless Key Chain/Tools: If black and white artwork is not available, Garland can typeset your message. It is important that you provide your desired message in typewritten form to avoid spelling and spacing errors. For the most pleasing imprint layout, we recommend combining no more than three typestyles. You can choose from the typestyles presented below, indicating point size for each line. Unless specifically requested, all lines of copy will be centered. Again, please keep in mind that the maximum imprint area on Stainless Key Chain/Tools is a 1” triangle. This significantly limits the copy length in the upper portion of the product and may require that your artwork or copy be reduced or repositioned to fit the imprint area.

Our 24 Standard Typestyles for Imprint: (Not for engraving) Select from the following standard typestyles for your imprinted message. When ordering, please indicate your desired typestyle for each line of copy by using the numbers listed below. Actual typestyles are shown. The chart is available for reference only. Its purpose is to show the maximum number of characters (letters and spaces) that are available per inch of imprint for each of the typestyles offered. These typestyles are not offered for engraving on metal items.

Style #’s 2, 9, 10, 17, 19, 20 are not recommended for copy in CAPS except for initials or very short words.

The more letters and spaces per line you request, the smaller the type will have to be to accommodate your message. Your imprint copy size is determined by the length of your longest line. For the best possible appearance of your promotional message on the barrel, split lines of copy wherever possible.

Artwork Requirements for Imprinting: When you send us artwork for imprinting, please provide high-contrast black and white camera-ready art. Faxed artwork is not acceptable. Second Location Customization

We can customize both sides of the Stainless Steel Key Chain/Tool. Most often, clients will have either a laser logo or an imprint copy on one side and some type of personalization, such as names, initials, dates or awards, on the other side. If copy is required in two locations, additional set-up and run charges will be incurred. The key chains will either have to be run through the laser twice, or through both the imprint and engraving departments.

Charges for Second Location: The run charge for engraving or imprinting in a second location on the Stainless Key Chain/Tool is $1.50 (G) per piece. Standard font engraving can include one line of personalized text or two lines of repeat copy with a maximum of 20 characters and spaces per line. There is no set-up or minimum quantity for standard font engraving. If a laser logo is engraved on the back, a $30.00 one-time programming fee will be billed in addition to the per-piece run charge. If the second location requires a one-color imprint copy in a standard ink color, a $35.00 (G) set-up charge will be added. Two-color imprint set-ups are $50.00 (G) and PMS matched imprint inks are $30.00 (G) unless the same PMS color is to be imprinted on both sides of the item. The run charge for imprint on the second side of the Stainless Key Chain/Tool is $1.50 (G) per piece. All product minimums for ink colors and copy must be met as detailed in the Laser Engraving and Imprinting sections.

Some Examples: If your order for 250 Stainless Key Chain/Tools has a laser logo on the front and then has 150 units with two lines of repetitive copy in a standard font engraved on the back: the laser logo would have a one-time $50.00 (G) programming fee if it is the first time that the copy has been run, and the 150 pieces with two lines of repeat copy in a standard font would be billed at $1.50 (G) additional per piece. There is no set-up charge or minimum quantity for standard font engraving.

If your order for 100 Stainless Key Chain/Tools has a one-color imprint copy on the front in a standard imprint color, and then has 15 units with one line of personalized copy (initials, dates, etc.) in a standard font engraved on the back: the one-color imprint would have a $35.00 (G) set-up charge, and the 15 units with one line of customization in the second location would be billed at $1.50 (G) additional per piece. There is no set-up charge or minimum quantity for standard font engraving.

If your order for 1,000 Stainless Key Chain/Tools has a two-color imprint (standard ink colors) on the front and then has a two different one-color imprint copies (500 of each, in standard ink colors) on the back: the two-color imprint would have a $50.00 (G) set-up charge, each one-color imprint would have a $35.00(G) set-up charge and the 1,000 pieces would each be billed the $1.50 (G) running charge to customize in the second location. There is no run charge for a one location, one color imprint copy.
